Infant & Toddler Caregivers

Iowa PITC Network
(IOWA PROGRAM for INFANT & TODDLER CAREGIVERS)

Child in a puddle

Through an initiative to improve the quality of infant and toddler child care in the state, the Iowa Department of Education and the Iowa Department of Human Services have partnered to bring PITC training to Iowa providers. This project involved the initial "training of trainers" who then go out into their communities and share the special knowledge and related practices uniquely necessary for working with infants, toddlers and their families.

Another important component of this system is the Infant/Toddler Specialist in each of the five Regional Offices. These certified specialists coordinate through their individual Child Care Resource and Referral (CCRR) agency to schedule training sessions as well as to provide technical support for their communities.
